“The Nature of Harmony: Music, Beauty & Cosmic Balance” was researched and developed by J. Golko in 2022-2023.

Investigating the origins of
Music, Beauty & Cosmic Balance

At the center between order and chaos lies the nature of the two extremes - balancing variety with harmony - achieving unity.

The Nature of Harmony does not require any prior knowledge of science, philosophy, or the arts.

What you’ll learn:

  • WHERE AND WHEN DID “HARMONY” ORIGINATE

  • WHAT ARE THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF MUSIC AND ARTWORKS

  • HOW SYMBOLISM HAS BEEN USED TO RECOGNIZE HARMONY

Subjective concepts of “good” and “bad” are not applicable in this historical and philosophical observation of the nature of harmony.

The Nature of Harmony is a 90-120 minute live seminar by J. Golko, which debuted in January 2023.

“Elementa Harmonica” was originally written by the Greek philosopher Aristoxenus (c. 400 BC) and was later transcribed into Latin by Antonius Gogavinus in 1564.

Aristoxenus was the first “musicologist” to consider musical harmony as a sensation, not Pythagorean mathematics.

"Opposition brings concord. Out of discord comes the fairest harmony." (Heraclitus c. 540-480 BC)

Heraclitus (5th century BC) was a Greek philosopher who likened the duality of existence to the ignition and extinguishing of fire. He believed harmony was a hidden connection of things “tending apart” and “being brought together,” where change in one direction was balanced by corresponding change in another.
